About the programme

The program offers majors in Computer Systems Engineering or Applied Business Computing.  BAC runs the first three years of the programme and the fourth year is delivered in collaboration with University of Sunderland( UK).

How you will learn

There are 4 to 5 modules per semester, each delivered through a mixture of lectures, tutorials and lab exercises. Students are given relevant textbooks for each module.

Lectures are usually 1 hour long and tutorial, 1 – 2 hours long, class contact varies from 5 -6 hours per week, depending on the level of course.

Assessment

Students will be awarded grades based on two assessment components namely coursework and the final examination.

  • Coursework – makes up 40% of the overall grade for any module to be undertaken by the student. The coursework is made up of two continuous assessment components namely:
  • At least 1 assignment –this contributes 60% of the coursework
  • At least 1 assessment test – this also contributes 40% of the coursework
  • Final examination –this makes up the remaining 60% of the overall grade.

Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor of  Science Year 1 Entry: B.Sc. (Hon) Computer Systems Engineering route

Applicants should have any one of the following:

    • Have a minimum of O’levels with at least a second division overall grade and a t least grade B in English and Mathematics – GCE.
    • Have a minimum of O’levels with at least 35 points in any best six (6) subjects including Mathematics and English with a  minimum of six (6) points in each, in Mathematics and English – BGCE
  • Bachelor of  Science Year 1 Entry: B.Sc. (Hon) Applied Business Computing route

Applicants should have any one of the following:

  • Have a minimum of O’levels with at least a second division overall grade and at least grade C in English and Mathematics – GCE.
  • Have a minimum of O’levels with at least 30 points in any best six (6) subjects including Mathematics and English with a  minimum of five (5) points in each, in Mathematics and English – BGCE

Have a minimum of O’levels with at least 30 points in any best six (6) subjects including Mathematics and English and Computer Studies with a minimum of five (5) points each in English and  an average of five (5) points for Mathematics and Computer Studies – BGCE.

Programme duration

The duration of the programme shall be four years. Each academic year or level shall include two semesters. At the end of each semester determination is made on continuing to the next level, retaking module(s), supplementing a module component or both components.
